SIGNS OF JESUS’ DIVINITY (6)
“Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
(John 9:3)
Sometimes, adversity comes as sickness, tragedy or suffering to the righteous. We repent, fast and pray all manner of prayer but the mountain seems to remain in place. This is not the time for questions of “why” and “what” or blames but the time to stand on your faith and ask the Lord to strengthen you to glorify Him through, or in spite of, the situation.
The man in our text was born blind through no fault of his or his parents’. Jesus intervened in his situation by manifesting the healing power of His divinity, bringing glory to God.
Have you prayed fervently for a dear one who has an illness like cancer and still watch this wicked disease wring the life out of him or her? Is the power of life and death in God’s hands or Satan’s? Definitely God’s! Ultimately, in life or in death, Christ is glorified – as the death of the believer is not the end. It is a stepping into a new realm of a glorious life with Christ.
A friend who had cancer described watching another friend die of cancer thus: “She made death seem so glorious! She forgave her estranged husband completely. Being the partner with more financial resources, she gave out a lot to him, made peace with him and went home completely at peace with God.” Her attitude, despite her pain, brought many to seek and know Christ.
Jesus paid the price for our reconciliation and healing and showed His divinity in His death and resurrection.
