WALK IN LOVE
“And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
(Ephesians 5:2)
Christ loves us so much He gave Himself up for us. This is the ultimate sacrifice. God expects us to love Him and our fellow men sacrificially too.
I remember the story of a young man who professed unending love for his fiancée. She fell ill and a message was sent to him that he should come to take her to the hospital. He sent back a message that it was raining and he could not come till the rains stopped. Ordinary rain was a hurdle he could not jump to express his type of love and assist her at a critical time.
Some express their love in ways that they personally desire, irrespective of what their loved ones desire. Love involves giving to bring joy to the loved. What time and gifts do we give to our loved ones and others? What sacrifices are we making for Christ and the ones we claim to love? What choices do we make and what actions do we take to express our love?
What do we do to show God’s love to others? Many see God as the strict Headmaster with a cane looking out for failings to punish. If only they could see the love of God through Jesus that made him leave His luxurious heavenly home and position to come as man, suffer and die painfully and shamefully to atone for our sins and resurrect, in order to raise us up to eternal life. But how will they see if no one shows them and how will they hear if no one tells them? Will you?
ACTION: Let your love for God and man be practical, sincere and sacrificial.
PRAYER: Lord please give us grace to love you and others sincerely and actively, in Jesus name. Amen.
