12 MARCH
TREASURES IN THE BIBLE
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, NLT)
The Scriptures contain the greatest treasure God has given to mankind–the words of eternal salvation. This salvation comes from accepting, knowing and trusting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. The wisdom to receive this free gift is found in the Bible.
Also, the Bible is our Life and Survival Manual, the Christian’s Constitution with the secrets of obedience and the grace to obey. Surely, the writers used their minds, talents and style in their own personal, historical and cultural contexts but all were inspired by God and wrote what God wanted them to write. In addition, I regard the Bible as God’s Love Letter to me. In it, God tells and shows me who He is, His power, His love, His mercy, His grace and His hatred for sin. In it, He calls me into a love relationship with Him and His inheritance now and eternally as His daughter.
I could go on, but let me simply attest that the Bible is completely trustworthy, infallible and is the greatest treasure book. I encourage you to search and find these treasures of life and teach your children and others too!
ACTION: Read the Bible daily. Set a target for yourself and be disciplined and determined to keep to it.
PRAYER: Father God, please grant me the grace and wisdom to search out the
Bible for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that I may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
