VICTORY THROUGH FAITH AND PERSEVERANCE (4)

“One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

“There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

(Luke 18:1-5, NLT)

Jesus told the parable of the persistent widow to show that we should always pray and not give up. Her perseverance yielded earthly fruits. Our perseverance in prayer, words and action should yield both earthly and heavenly fruits.

Some people tend to be over considerate of other people’s feelings and inconveniences and not bother them, even when it is necessary. This passage tells us this is wrong. Let us keep standing on the Rock of Ages and keep chipping, till the rock of obstacles breaks down.  As Jim Watkins rightly said, “A river cuts through a rock, not because of its power but its perseverance.”

Victory comes through faith in God and perseverance.

ACTION:  Be a woodpecker and you will soon be a house-owner.

PRAYER: My faith looks up to thee, thou Lamb of Calvary. May the mountains be removed into the sea at my command, in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
