“Behold, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who by night stand in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord. The Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!” (Psalm 134:1)
The temple’s night watchmen did their work responsibly, with joy and reverence to God. We are called to do our work both as an act of worship to God and physically. It is biblical to raise our hands in worship unto God. And as we worship God, we experience the joy of His presence and blessings. Our praise also draws the Lord’s presence down to break barriers. Paul and Silas were in prison, but as they prayed and sang praises joyfully and loudly, their chains were broken into pieces. Come, let us raise our hands in prayer and praise the Lord for who He is: our Saviour, our awesome uncreated Creator, who made heaven and earth!
ACTION: We will praise and worship God at such a time as this!
PRAYER: O God our Father, please bless us and grant us the grace to praise and worship You even in difficult times.
